Workshop: Dry and wet

Through a visit to the community of San Pedro Actopan, Milpa Alta, in collaboration with Calpulli Tecalco, we invited children and young people living in this territory to take walks in planting areas. The artist Melissa Paredes led a mapping and environmental observation session, as well as sharing some tools she uses as a landscape artist. The participants produced a series of watercolor landscapes and reflected on the changes the place they inhabit is undergoing and what impacts are visible in it.

Encounter: Walking time and nature

Walking time and nature was a space for encounter, affinity, and collective construction. Three years after forming as a group, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to recognize the symptoms of time in nature and walk together towards new forms of articulation.

On this occasion, the group was welcomed at Casa Pitahaya, in Santo Domingo Tomaltepec, where they shared knowledge, tools, and experiences. Through dialogue and listening, they charted new work paths that will allow them to strengthen their management processes, create common strategies, and stay connected remotely. This encounter not only strengthened existing ties but also opened new possibilities to continue weaving living networks between territories, knowledge, and affections.

We make our river: community activations

Community cultural project with an emphasis on children, whose objective was to encourage the imagination and representation of the relationships of the communities adjacent to the Papaloapan River, from the different meanings and images that are communally built around water bodies. Its core and tool was the second edition of the publication We make our river, its portfolio of 50 postcards and the curatorial kit derived from it. For four months, curator Catalina Pérez managed various activities with local groups, promoters, artists, teachers, and cultural actors, such as: deep listening, body dynamics, drawing and photography workshops, community exhibitions, radio programs, presentations, mediations, and conversations that were carried out in co-participation with schools, regional cultural centers, and independent cultural spaces.
